Blog entry #7: Fresh

Fresh

Nick Standifer
In the documentary fresh it goes through many different parts of the rural farming system today. It gives us an in detail look into the current rural and industrial agricultural setting. Food is important for everyone so it is good for us to know where it comes from. This film helps walk us through that. Today I will be talking about my thoughts and views, as well as an analysis, of this eye opening documentary, Fresh.

The purpose of this film was to really bring a light onto the current farming ecosystem. It walks you through how your food is grown and really brought to the table. It highlights the importance of healthier products for the consumer. This film highlights the predatory nature of the farming industry.

This film helped me to realize how awful the meat industry is in particular. A lot of these animals just get trashed and fed things that they shouldn't. In the documentary they go on to say how cow feed has started to have cow poop and carcasses in it. One quote that really stuck out to me was "Let's treat the herbivore like an herbivore first and then the other things will fall into place." -Joel Salatin. This quote really helps to drive in the point that we shouldn't feed this junk to our cows.

This film does a spectacular job highlighting the awful industry we call the agricultural setting in America. It has brought awareness to me that I need to be more careful of what i'm putting into my body. The way that it blends this awareness along with a great job of informing the viewer of the process local farms use to make sure your food is good to eat. I hope this movie inspires change in others like it inspired me.
